Personal Knowledge Base (PKB) Reflection - Due Friday - 12/5
Technology has transformed all aspects of our lives, including what it means to be informed, knowledgeable, and creative. A Personal Knowledge Base (PKB) using the “cloud” application Evernote can be used to accumulate resources related to American Public Education, school reforms and other topics of your choosing. Your PKB is an online repository for articles, notes, references, and reflections, and is meant to extend your intelligence and creativity. Since everyone thinks in his or her own way, our PKBs should also be different. The purpose of this assignment is to have you reflect on your use of some of the tools, such as Evernote, Evernote Web Clipper, Feedly, and Zotero, and strategies, such as mindmaps, and synthesis pages we used in this course.
Reflect on how you created and used your "PKB" for this course in a series of paragraphs. In addition to an introduction and a conclusion, your PKB reflection should answer at least 3 of the following questions or topics:
Describe your most consistent challenge in your learning this semester? What was your most difficult class? What made it so hard? What learning strategies did you use try to be successful?
How did you use Evernote and the Evernote Web Clipper to support your work in this course?
What other uses for your PKB did you develop as you got more comfortable with Evernote?
Describe your PKB's organizational scheme. How many notebooks have your created? What (if any) tags are your using? What uses (if any) have you discovered for note links?
Describe at least one strategy that YOU developed or adopted this semester to augment your how you learn. This could be a study strategy that you have adapted, a way to organize your research, or so other way of collecting or organizing new knowledge for writing, planning, etc. Did your PKB contribute to this strategy? If so, explain how.
Reflect on how you think that viewing your notes as a lasting resource might affect how you participate in future courses.
If you decided not use Evernote this semester, explain why not. Describe what you have chosen to do instead in terms of organizing your notes in your courses, conducting research, etc.
